My puppy cried while eating

This morning my pup was eating his breakfast kibble when he suddenly cried out and went into the living room and cried for about 10 seconds. After about 10 more seconds he went back and finished his meal. He is 4months old. He seems fine now. Did he just bite his tounge or hurt one of his baby teeth? I looked into his mouth later and couldnt find anything wrong. But I am far from an expert.

Poor baby ; Nisha has never done this. I would think biting his tongue could be possible. Could there have been anything in his food bowl (i.e. stinging bug?).

Awww. He's probably starting to teethe and has a loose tooth that got crunched on a bit too hard and it hurt. Doesn't sound like he's any worse for wear over it though, since it only took him 20 seconds to resume eating!

Re: My puppy cried while eating

I never forget the first time Nisha lost a tooth . We were playing tug-of-war, and I noticed blood !! I looked in her mouth to find a baby tooth dangleing.

We put it under her pillow, she got a bone in the morning...Okay that last part wasn't true, but I do have a friend who actually saved her dogs teeth...kinda gross if you ask me, but to each his own .

I confess, I saved one of Emmy's baby teeth. Not sure why now, never saved any of my other dogs teeth - must be getting old!

I didn't get any of Gary's baby teeth. I'm pretty sure he swallowed all of them or ate them on purpose finding them on the floor before I got to lol!

Teething can be painful though.

Thats good to hear. It sure did scare me at the time. But he has been fine all day. Today he learned to touch his moose squeaky toy and his rope pull toy!

Yep, we still have Cerberus' baby teeth and he passed away four years ago. I have NO idea why we still keep them.

Sounds like the pup may have bitten his tongue or the inside of the cheek. I do that sometimes. :)
