These super premium foods are not sold in grocery stores or big box pet food stores. They are often sold in smaller petfood stores, or dog groomers, or even feed type of farm stores, or natural food stores.
Do a google search for "Canidae" or Naturapet and this will take you to the foods website. Each has a store locator. Put in your area code or zip code and you will find stores that sell it near you. Often if they sell Canidae or Innova food...you will also find all of the other good foods mentioned here too.

Re: Puppy Dandruff

As brunie's mom said, most of the super premium foods aren't sold at big box stores or grocery stores. The companies that make the great foods (Canidae, Wellness, etc) won't sell to large chains. Petsmart has been trying to carry Canidae and Wellness for years, to no avail. So your best bet is to find an independent pet food retailer in your area and they will almost certainly have these foods.
About the dandruff, I had noticed that Brinks had some too (he's almost 10 weeks old). I live in Canada as well and artificial heating in the home this time of year can be brutal on their skin (as well as ours). I started brushing him with a rubber curry brush every morning and night. I have noticed far less dandruff since then. He still has some, but its helping, as well as getting him used to being groomed.

as far as supplements go, we have been using Lipiderm tabs with Tozzi and his dandruff has cleared up and his coat is beautiful.

Re: Puppy Dandruff

Good food will definitely make a big difference and the fish oil will help in the cold months of the year when the heat is really cranked up. Just like humans get dry skin, so will a puppy. However you will also notice a lot of dandruff once your puppy starts to blow out their puppy fur and grow in adult fur. Bongo's only been fed high quality food and I added fish oil in the winter, but once he started growing in that adult coat, no amount of oils or brushing could fix that dandruff. Within 3 weeks the worst was over, but don't get frustrated when he starts growing his adult coat... there really isn't much you can do!

Unhappy Re: Puppy Dandruff

Not too happy with Canidae and decided to change to Orijen Large Puppy...

I've been giving her a tee-spoon of Olive Oil every 2 days and along with the previous food change it removed the dandruff. It's no longer showing, but her coat is not shiny like before. It looks very dry. She's also begun scratching alot and that's one of the reasons I'll be buying Orijen next time.

Maybe it's because she's a very young puppy or the winter... However I want her to have a nice shiny (allmost oiled looking) coat. My previous rott. was fed raw (fish, chicken, eggs, potatoes, all the veggies that we eat and allways finished our salad leftovers), from time to time I added Vitamin supliments and it's coat was very shiny. However I do not live on a "farm" anymore and can't afford to feed my new dog this kind of food.

So my question is: Is it posible to obtain the desired shiny coat and what would I have to do? Orijen is the best thing I can get here, and so I see many of you are feeding it to your dogs. Do your dogs show this kind of results?

Re: Puppy Dandruff

I just found these posts on puppy dandruff. My male 4 month old has dandruff also. Not real bad but noticable outside in the light. He was just tested for parasitic worms and was negative. Other then his dandruff, he seems a healthy and happy 28 lb pup. I feed him Innova dry food. I saw the post about giving fish oil and vitamin E. My question is how much do you give a puppy for dandruff? Do you give both? If it could help my pup's dandruff, then I would be willing to try. I just need more details. Thanks
