His first injection query

My pup had his first injection today, but now he is home he is making crying noises. Is this normal? He just sat up and make these noises. I hope he is ok..

Re: His first injection query

He is 2 days over 8 weeks old. He is still crying when moving. I think he must be aching? He is walking slow as if it hurts him, crying, but he will still eat anything I put in front of him. I am a bit worried about his crying.

Re: His first injection query

It may be that the injection site is tender, just as it can be on a child when they get a vaccination.

I would check the site to make sure that is it not hot or swollen. If not, then give him overnight to get back to normal. If he is still crying tomorrow or if the site appears hot or swollen, I would take him back to the vet.

Don't ask a whole lot of him today, sometimes the injections can make them feel a bit off, give him his toys, or maybe even give him a raw bone to chew on. That might take his mind off of things.

Re: His first injection query

Thanks for the info. He is only crying when he moves. He has just ate his food no problem, he must just be sore I think.

Thanks for the update, and it will probably be something to watch for in the future. His vaccinations will probably affect him the same way each time.
Glad to hear he is back to normal!

Re: His first injection query

Scary, isn't it when these pups cry. Daisy used to get quite a knot at the vaccination site. The vet would pull up loose skin (the scruff of her neck) and administer the shot(s). By the next day, she'd be sore and there would be a walnut-sized knot. It would slowly absorb and she had no other ill effects. Happy to hear your pup is A-OK again.
