Krabby Kenzie

Hello all! Kenzie started her puppy kindergarten class on Saturday and is doing very well with potty training! I forgot how much puppies sleep. I tell people I have a Rottweiler SS (Super Sleep). I also beleive that she is part goat since she loves to chew on grass! LOL!

However, she has issues with people coming in our yard and house. She growls and barks. After a few seconds she's ok. Our trainer said that we should ignore her when she barks or growls. This way, she sees that we are ok with the people and she has no reason to growl and bark. It seems to be getting better.

Other than that, she's a HAM! Today, my husband was playing fetch with her and tossed her Sqeaky in the bedroom and she came running out with my bra. She's crazy! But I love her. :)

Re: Krabby Kenzie

You could also try having the "strangers" give her treats. That way she'll associate people with good things.

But when is the appropriate time to give the treat? I dont want to have her bark and growl at the "stranger" and then have them give her a treat and have her think she's getting a treat for the barking and growling.

Post Re: Krabby Kenzie

She is barking and growling because she is scared and unsure of things. What do you do when she starts her barking, etc?
The best thing to do is to greet the people yourself, and then give Kenzie a command such as "say hello"....and give the treat to the strangers to give to Kenzie. Most puppies get over their shyness when given treats.

She will soon start seeing strangers as "treat givers"...and stop being scared and unsure.

If you decide to do the treat thing, maybe you could keep a small jar or dish of treats by your front door that way it's handy when people first enter your home.

Re: Krabby Kenzie

Ok, I'll try the "say hello" trick. Thanks for the advice!
