I see your point. The breeder is one of my friends from work. He didn't sale me the puppy, he was giving them away to people he knew real well. The reason he took them away for the mom was because it was a total of 13 puppies, 4 males and 9 females. The mom sat on them when they were three weeks old and killed 3 of the males. Also her breast got infected, and he managed to keep them for two more weeks.

My puppy, Bessy, and I had a really rough first few weeks together. Like yours, she had diarrhea, and very poor appetite. My anxiety turned to panic when she vomited.

Turns out, Bessy had Coccidia - a bacteria in her intestines that affects her appetite and digestion. The poor girl had to undergo a series of jabs, IV drips and staying in the animal hospital until she was better.

Am glad to say, today she's doing GREAT.

You did the right thing by taking her to the vet's. But I think you will need to check with your vet about whether your pup's first booster shots are any good, seeing how sick he was.

Bessy had to undergo a series of blood tests before my vet would let her continue with her 2nd vaccination. If she had failed her tests, the vet would have re-started all her vaccinations.

Also, if your pup is sick, it's not a good idea to let him have any vaccinations. The vaccinations carry live specimens of the virus (or something to that effect) in mild dosages so a healthy pup can build immunity.

Please double triple check with your vet before you put any vaccinations in your little boy.

I can totally understand how you are feeling now. But just hang in there! With the proper care and love that he's getting, he'll be A-OK!

Coccidia is the same thing the Vet told me my puppy have. The put IV fluids at the clinic, the medicine he prescribed is Metronidazole 250mg, Nutri-Cal a dietary supplement and Hills Prescription diet (A/D Canine feline). The puppy is still not eating on her own but he is more active now, playing around the house with my two daughters. Today his stool is becoming harder and I hope he continues like this.

As far as vaccinations, my friend that gave me the puppy only give him the Solo-Jec 7 and i told the Vet about that. At the clinic I am going to enroll my puppy in a plan if everything goes O.K

Re: Rottweiler puppy not eating.

I just came back form the Vet. because my puppy started getting sick this morning. I can't believe how quickly it got like this, yesterday at night before going to work he was doing a lot better, and today in the morning when i got out of work, I noticed that he started with the diarrhea again, but this time got a little blood in it. I didn't go to sleep, I tried giving him food and pedialyte but he was vomiting every thing he was taking. I took him straight to the doctor and he told me that it was Parvo.

On Sunday when i took him, he tested negative for Parvo and two days later the Parvo strikes. I was giving him medication for Coccidia, but somehow the Parvo manage to hit him.

The Vet. put some IVs, and told me that he didn't have any chance for surviving because the blood in the stool became more aggressive and offer me the option to put him down.

I didn't have the heart to do it, so i brought him home, and I don't want to let him go, I been giving him fluids every hour. It's breaking my heart to see him like this and not able to do anything. He is my first Rottweiler Puppy, and he is only been with me for one week. I haven't slept and I have to go back to work tonight, I am afraid that he is not going to make it by tomorrow.

Re: Rottweiler puppy not eating.

OMG i am so sorry. I feel for you. Please, if he somehow makes it through the night have him put to sleep, unless you go get a second opinion from another vet. I know it is hard to let go once you are attached.

If you do decide to have him Put to sleep or he doesn't make it through the night (god forbid) please consider rescuing a puppy from the shelter. I know your friend gave him to you for free but let this be a lesson learned to not accept a puppy from a BYBer.

Best wishes to your puppy and I hope he makes it (wheres the darn hugging emoticon lol)

I'll keep you and your family in our prayers. Please make the right decision allow your puppy to rest. He's not a happy camper right now and at least you'll be with him.

Keep us posted and I know how you feel. It's a hard decision but will be the right decision. Don't make him go alone. :(

I'm so sorry, but PLEASE get this puppy back to the vet. You CAN do something....you can find the heart to relieve this puppy of his suffering instead of not having the heart, and allowing him to die a horrible death by internally bleeding to death. Parvo is a TERRIBLE way for a dog to die.

I am going to be blunt here and am sorry for having to be so. But you need to quit thinking of yourself and start thinking of your puppy. If this puppy is so far gone that the vet says there is no chance for him, why are you letting him linger on? Parvo (as Moondog said) is a terrible way to die. I can't believe you are thinking of yourself before you think of your puppy.

Please do what needs to be done, take him back to the vet and let him go to a better place as he is in your arms. He deserves that, you need to accept the responsibility for doing it.

I'm sorry for what you are going through, but it is nothing compared to what your puppy is going through. Do what is right for him.

I am so sorry your pup is so sick.
I am sending out prayers for him.
Are you continuing to give any medicine to him?
I know you have been giving him the best care you can.
Please keep us posted...
