| Lifting his leg to pee, what age?? At what age can I expect to see my dog lifting his leg to pee? He's 10 months, and about 90 lbs right now, so its funny to see him squatting. :) |

| Is your pup neutered? If he was, at what age? Sometimes pups neutered young never lift their legs, and only squat. My pup starting lifting his leg at about 6 months of age....but he was around other male dogs...and watched them and learned. I have dogs that I board that squat to pee when they come, and after playing and hanging around other male dogs they seem to learn how to lift their legs to pee. I think it's a combination of hormones and learning it from other male dogs. Gina

| Re: Lifting his leg to pee, what age?? My guy is 10 months old and still squats, but he sees his older sister do it that way. Every once in awhile we see a glimpse of hope that he may lift the leg, like in the snow, but I think he's gonna be a lifetime squatter. Oh well. |

| Re: Lifting his leg to pee, what age?? Gunner didnt start lifting until "later". And sometimes he still squats. HE usually lifts-I think he squats if he is in a hurry. And sometimes he lifts it so far up I think he is going to fall over! I know there are some people on here that have females that lift- so it goes both ways.

| Re: Lifting his leg to pee, what age?? Both of my Rotties squat or lift their legs. Personnally, I think is a matter of the situation they are in. For example, the only time that Max or Apollo lifted their leg is when they are near something vertical (e. g. tree, mailbox, etc). |

It sounds like I may have to wait and see. If not, I love him anyway. |

| Re: Lifting his leg to pee, what age?? I had an unneutered standard Poodle who never lifted his leg. He squatted until the day he died. Kind of funny to watch, but no big deal. At least he never felt the need to mark his territory. |

| Re: Lifting his leg to pee, what age?? Gus tried lifting his leg a couple of times (He is now almost 1 1/2) and he didn't realize that he was on a hill in our backyard..Each time he fell over!! It was really pretty funny..Gia just watched but you could tell she was laughing inside...Since then he just squats. |
