Re: I am really worried....

Don't EVER think that you are being a sissy, my friend, if you are showing concerns over the well-being for an animal, especially your own pup. Not one person here who sees the turmoil that you are in for your dog's sake would think that you are being a 'sissy'. I for one applaud you for caring so much. If you didn't care as much as you do, I'd think that you don't deserve to own a dog. You are doing what you can to help your little girl, we all know that. I hope that your vet will be able to do something for her.
Know that you will be in my prayers.

Re: I am really worried....

Thank you so much!

I just got a call back from the "Mother", saying she don't want to tell her daughter and upset her, and she don't want me to get her in trouble?....Now I am really lost!

My wife is on the phone trying the local vet hospital. I am not gonna be able to sleep unless she goes in tonight.

Re: I am really worried....

I read all your previous posts, and it sounds like you kinda got snowed like I did. I had a "breeder" who answered all the questions right, asked all the right questions (I beleived she cared about/for her dogs like they were FAMILY) only to find out later she just knew how to talk the talk without walking the walk.

You are right to worry, and no one here would call you a sissy or think less of you for loving your dog. I cried many times about being so foolish as to beleive this "breeder" when I thought Arwen would be in bad health, I got lucky. Again I ask, did you get ANY kind of contract? I know you would have to take her to small claims court if you did have one and she broke her end, but if you had the time and money maybe it would put a stop to her "breeding" program.

Re: I am really worried....

No, I didn't get a contract, just akc papers.

I honestly did not know any better. I wished I belonged to this forum before I bought her. Although I am still happy I have Athena, she is the apple of my eye. And also she is my kids best friend.
i honestly don't care about the money, I just wanna be an A##hole, and stop her from breeding with her akc rights.
The mother is speaking very foolishly on the phone to me, and really slipping up with things she is saying.

I have been here too long and know what I am allowed to post - but this is horse hockey.

The "MOTHER" is obviously worried for a reason - makes me wonder what the other pups have gone through

But that is for later - NOW is for getting her to a Vet that can diagnose and treat her

Re: I am really worried....

Yes I agree. My wife is waiting on a guy they Beep at the vets, to call back. I am glued to the PC, because I don't know what else to do besides pace around the room.

It is way too much to type, but the "Mother", is really trying hard to cover her daughters but...who is in at least her "40's",,my age, and not doing a good job of it, she stated that some of the other pups had those issues and they were fine now.
I told her to give me their numbers to call them, and she about choked~!

Re: I am really worried....

ALOT of us have learned the hard way, some even found this site before we purchased and still didn't listen to ALL the advice given, we picked what to listen to and ended up with a less then stellar "breeder".

I know you will get her to the vet as soon as possible, and all paws and fingers in this house will be crossed for you and your girl. Arwen sends Athena nub wiggles and kisses for a speedy recovery.

Sometimes the best things we can do are educate through sites like this and word of mouth, and keep people from buying from these BYB's again. If no one wants their puppies, maybe they will stop breeding.

Re: I am really worried....

i called them up, they told me to give her a baby aspirin, and wait till morning for my own vet...ugh!

They said their appointments are over for the day, but there is one in Pgh.

She said to me to just let her relax, and take her first thing in the AM.

She explained to me that letting her relax with the aspirin, will make her comfy until morning.
Sounds like the ole..."take an aspirin and call me in the morning"....This whole thing between the breeder acting flakey, and won't talk to me, and the hospital telling me to just wait till tomorrow, I starting to wonder what society has turned into..

Thanks so much for caring, I truly mean that!....this board is awesome.

Re: I am really worried....

Do you have an Animal Control in your town? (Humane Society - Pound)?

Is there a local Sheriff's Office that someone would call if a dog was loose?

They may know of a local emergency clinic/Vet on call in case a dog is hit by a car.

Re: I am really worried....

Unfortunatley pain managment may be all you CAN do for now. Even after x-rays and everything supplements and managment may be all you can do if it is HD or something of that sort. If it is something that requires surgery they wouldnt do it till tomarrow when they could bring the entire staff in to help anyways.

I am not saying give up looking (my vet has a number on his answering machine for emergencies, it cost like $200 dollar retainer to get him out of bed I beleive, but I would do it if it were my only chance). We dont have emergency vet hospitals out here, just vets who may roll out of bed for the right price.

This is (unfortunately) true

But I would NOT wait till I could get an "appointment" - I would just SHOW UP first thing in the AM if that is the soonest she can be tended to
