Re: Ears

It happens. Rose ears are not desirable and is considered a flaw. By half prick you mean a single forward fold? That would be the good ear, then. If you feel both, the single fold might have thicker ear leather.

How old is Val? You could consider taping if he's quite young yet. Rose ear leather tends to be a bit fragile (thin). Because of that, tapings are often unsuccessful.

BUT! You love him to pieces! What more can you ask? It will give him a unique look of character! My friend has a girl, Zena, with 2 rose ears. They couldn't love that dog more

Do check ear from time to time to make sure there is no infection starting in and of the folded crevaces. I had a girl with a tri fold ear once. She was prone to a sort of boil at the apex of the folds in hot sticky weather. It was painful for her.

Re: Ears

Tremendously adorable! Very handsome indeed. That's not bad at all! I'd seriously try taping it into place.

Re: Ears

hmmm im starting to wonderif he is even full rott...I looked at GSD pups his age and their ears sort of stand half prick and go inwards when alert, so they are almost (or are) touching eachother on the top of thier head. And Vals "goofy ear" does just this.....I wouldnt be suprised if his ear stood at full prick when he's older....I should post pics of his parents...so you could get an idea. His mom Looks TOTALLY cross breed!! you will see why....but both of her ears stand at a perfect half prick (kind of collie like or GSD)...I will post them tonite as soon as i get home......its not that big of deal...but I would like to confirm it and leave it afterwards....

Re: Ears

Not necessarily a mix. My friend began showing her boy about the same time I began with Sable. In fact that's how we originally met. Her boy's ears both began to do that GSD thing. She tried taping, but in her case futile.

She showed him less than a year, before jumping into Agility and obedience. Has tons of titles, now. And yes, he is purebred. Has all his papers and an impressive pedigree. I know his breeder, but he does has those half prick style ears.
