Re: Weight gain?

I've heard that some dogs go through major growth spurts. I'm guessing that although the average monthly gain to be expected is about 10 pounds, some months could be more or less.

Re: Weight gain?

We just had a huge month Kim, 14 pound in August. Sounds like she just hit a spurt. If you were worried about her being a little small, look out now!

Re: Weight gain?

yup, im thinking growth spurt too! 53.3 pounds at 6 months still sounds very healthy especially for a female.

Re: Weight gain?

Hi Kim...As Bill has put it in the past, Deja Vu is in her "black and tan giraffe" stage...all legs, no body, and a little wiggly stump! LOL...She weighed in at 58.7 last week and turned 8 mo on Monday, 09/10. Up 10 pounds from last month so I think she's at that "growing spurt" stage. I thought Deja Vu was going to be "short" forever, but now she's finally getting some height...she's only about 2 1/2" shorter than Moses now... She's beautiful if you ask me...so don't worry so much, she's doing great...and so are you.... Her height has ALL been within the last 6 weeks...so Gypsy should be coming in to hers soon!

Personally, I am very glad that Deja Vu is on the petite side because that means (fingers crossed) hopefully less chance at HD. My old man Samson has HD and there are times "getting up" is difficult for him.

Re: Weight gain?

It's funny, Serena got the height first. She is just now getting some body to match. Can we say "time for new pics thresd". We should start a thread where all of us with pups under a year (and there is a bunch of us) can post pics and marvel at how they all grow so differently. Not compare though because every dog is different.

Re: Weight gain?

Hi there, My male Sam is gaining around 10lbs/month and at the last vet visit weighed 54 lbs and he was one week shy of 5 months. He looks like a giraffe and his ribs are easily felt (Not Fat).

Sounds like your dog is right on target.
