crating

ok, after a peaceful morning with pup, he decided to throw a few challenges at me this afternoon, ie repeatedly jumping on the couch, then biting me. i put him in his crate, but i know that's not the answer, because his crate is supposed to be his sanctuary, not his prison. any suggestions?

Re: crating

As long as you're not doing it in anger, I don't see anything wrong with that. The little rascal probably needs a nap! I think a nice, quiet nap a couple times a day is good for puppies - give him a cookie after he's in the crate and he's not going to view it as something negative.....he'll see it as a snack bar!

Re: crating

Gypsy has her "crate times" during the day, if she starts getting out of control with the other dogs its time for a nap, if its nice outside and the dogs want to play I will put them in the kennel for about an hour so they can wear each other out! but I agree if you are not angry and calling her "bad" while doing it there isnt an issue, I do tell Gypsy nighty night

Re: crating

izzy has absolutely no problem going to his crate at night - when it's bedtime, he trots right in ... and sleeps peacefully until waking us seconds BEFORE the alarm goes off in the morning. during the day, however, it's a different story. he definitely knows something's up when i put him in there. he has been spoilt for company, since i have been with him around the clock since we brought him home six weeks ago and now that we are starting to crate him to go to the grovery store or out for dinner, he freaks.
