Gray Patch on Chest

Hello. My 4 mo old male has a gray patch of hair on his chest right below his chin. It looks and feels like part of it is going "bald." Is this normal?

Re: Gray Patch on Chest

I'm confused. "Right below his chin" is his neck. Yet you say it is on his chest. Where is it? If it's on his chest, this is not an uncommon thing, but its also not correct.

could it be a swirl of hair (like a cowlick) and you are seeing his skin?

Re: Gray Patch on Chest

It's on his chest and the patch is an upside-down triangle that's about 5 inches long.

That is something that in Germany is a breed-disqualifying fault, and here it is a very strong fault. Doesn't change your dog one bit, other then the fact that he can't be successfully shown and should not be bred.

Thanks for the info. Just wanted to make sure it's okay. Kinda makes him look cool, as far as I'm concerned. He's actually from Serbia.

Re: Gray Patch on Chest

It's normal if it's on the chest. I've heard of many people who show there Rotties with a little gray and they just trim the fur. I wouldn't worry about it unless it's turning into a bald spot.
