Re: Puppy's weight??

A solid, top quality, well balanced diet is very crucial for the pup and obviously for the remainder of their years of life. Rott pups should average as a baseline 10 pounds per month. I have had pups at 8 weeks hitting the 20# mark and now at 7.5 months he is at 92# and very lean. Genetics dictate as well as diet. Some pups are just very slow growers, looking gangly up to and through the age of 2. Some bloodlines are just that way. I have seen dogs at 2 that I did not recognize at 4...they matured incredibly. Don't use weights based on what others say, look at YOUR puppy at decide. If you question the weight, sure...ask people, but better still, take a stool sample to the vet and check for worms. Have your pup checked for parasites.

Re: Puppy's weight??

Deja Vu weighed in at 40# last week. She is 19 weeks. Vet seems to think she is right on target so as not to grow too fast. He says it will help to prevent hip/bone/joint issues later on. No guarantees, but at least we can do our part to slow down the growth process so that it doesn't affect her negatively if it's too fast. Good luck and it sounds to me like he's on the right track.

Gypsy is about 21 pounds she has averaged between 10 and 11 pounds a month HEr dad was larger then her mom, her mom and her aunt were about the same size, Im expecting her to be inbetween the two. Its ok with me if at 9 months she isnt 100# already but its also ok if she is

Nui went to the Vet on Friday so that would put him at 13weeks and 3days and he gained 7lbs.. he now weighs 32.6lbs.. I have not increased his food and he still gets 2.6 cups a day.

Some take as much as 2-3 years to fully mature. Be patient.

Just for statistical purposes - Rhea weighed in at 41.2 lbs at 19 weeks. Her vet also thinks she's on the right track.

(To spoilbabies3: wanna have a friendly "competition" who loses her first baby tooth first? )

That's not a fair battle...we already lost one... ...she was playing tug with her 5 yo rottie brother and he helped it along. But it must have been about time because I can feel the "new tooth" breaking through...I have kept it for her scrapbook pages. But I'm up for something else...did you have anything in mind? Actually, she has been such a joy...although trying at times.... ...When is Rhea's birthday? Deja is 01/10/06.

Oh, Deja is exactly 1 months older (Rhea's 2/10/06).... yeah, that wouldn't have been fair!

Scrapbook? Oh no, now I feel like such a bad mom! (That's it, running to the scrapbook supplies store at lunch! )

If you two ever get a good competition going, Serena's birthday is 2/4/06. She's already lost two teeth. Sitting pretty at a trim 35lbs.

Sounds good to me! Looks like we got LOTS of cutie patooties born around the same time but remember...friendly competition Serena is definitely ahead of Deja on the "tooth loss"...

Well, well, well - it's official - all this year's puppies should have their own "club"! Wanna join?

Both of you are ahead of Rhea in the teething process but she's on her way - (one of her baby teeth is being pushed out by the perm tooth - at least that's according to the vet when I asked about her tooth that all of a sudden became crooked)... But she... she can... she's better because... Oh, I know, she's all mine and that's what she's best at!
