Oscar was about 50 lbs at 5 months old and went about 8-10 lbs per month and slowed down around 9-10 months after that. Don't over feed them to get the "big" effect, let nature and genetics take it's course. Rotti's totally go through a skinny/gangly stage so don't think (or let ur Dad think) that because your pup looks "skinny" that you necessarily need to feed it more. Oscar's just turned 11 m/o and is still gangly and just now starting to fill in. Our last rott didn't fully fill in and widen up until almost 3 years old. Keep that in mind, maturing of rotts can take years so don't force it or you could end up with serious health issues. Just follow the feeding directions of whatever food you have your pup on, feed a high quality food, dont use large breed food and make sure your pup gets the appropriate exercise for its age. Your vet will monitor your dogs weight and size etc.

Re: Puppy's weight??

Our pup was 57 lbs at 4 months, and 108 lbs now at 10 1/2 months. We have kept him slim and he looks great.

Re: Puppy's weight??

my pup was:

6,4k at 4 weeks (14lbs)
14.9k at 15 weeks (32.82lbs)
19.4k at 18 weeks (42.75lbs)

I guess it is growing too fast and i should stop feeding him (JOKE)

Re: Puppy's weight??

I have a question, my Rottie is a little over a year old and isnt that bulkey. Will that come later? He's part American and part German Rottie. Right now he's around 90 lbs, give or take a little. We have been feeding him Sience Diet and his food is measured. He gets 7 cups a day of food. He's tall just not real bulky.

He sounds a good weight to me.

If your Rottie was born in the US, he's an American Rottie; I'm not sure what you mean he's "part German Rottie."

SD isn't a food many of us recommend or feed to our dogs. Please read thru the postings in Nutrition & Grooming. Dog food--what makes foods much better than others, how to tell a premium food from one that's not, and many other food related issues--has been discussed repeatedly.

Re: Puppy's weight??

Igor just turned 4 months today and has 55 lbs. He looks skinny compared with a n adult rottweiler, he just grew a lot in height in the last few weeks. I hope he wont grow out of standard but i dont care that much. I know one of his half brothers has over 150 lbs but thats an exception, both his mom and dad have under 135.

Re: Puppy's weight??

Every puppy is going to grow at their own pace based on their genetics. If your pup was under weight I am sure your vet would advise you. Just make sure your feeding him a premium dog food. "Winston" is about 27lbs. going on 13 weeks. He's as healthy as he can be right now (crossed fingers), and he was the runt of the litter.

Re: Puppy's weight??

Nutro Ultra is a better quality if you are going to go with Nutro. In my opinion, Large breed food is a gimmick. I think feeding him a quality (adult)food is in their best interest, if it is higher in calories, as it would be in the Ultra, he will eat a little less and it would actually last him longer. But I have heard good things about the Ultra and It works well for "Winston".
