Stress From Vacation

ok, here's my dilema.

i boarded my 7 month old rott(deuce) at my local vet while i went on vacation for 9 days. after getting him home,he now has diarhea and has urinated twice on my living room carpet,without even attempting to walk to the door.he hasnt made a mess in the house for about 3 months before this. i am wondering if since he was probably allowed to just go to the bathroom in his kennel,is he know thinking its ok to do it in the house and do i need to start back to basics with the crate training to get him back on track. the vet stated to give him some rice and low fat cottage cheese to take care of his diarhea.i didnt realize how stressful the whole vacation thing was to him or i would have made other arrangements.
