| Re: House Roaming In my opinion, I think it would be best not to give your ten week old the run of the house; it would be better if you could close off part of a room or crate train. Ten weeks is awfully young to be home alone all day...perhaps puppy daycare? or neighbor or friend to come in every few hours for pee breaks etc. Also, you should never leave your dog, especially a puppy, alone in the backyard all day, could get into serious trouble. Hope this helps a bit. :o) |

| Re: House Roaming I agree with Summit. A 10 week old pup is just too young to be trusted alone. All it takes is for her to just this once be interested in that electric cord. Mine are all crate trained and love their crates. I leave the door open during the day while we are there to supervise, but close it when we leave. And mine are adults, not puppies! Better safe than sorry is my motto.

| Re: House Roaming The safest place for your Kyra when you are not at home is inside your home in her crate. Puppies get into so many things, they are like little vaccum cleaners with their noses to the ground looking for anything interesting and of course everything they find is subject to at least one lick and a good chewing. Just when you think you have your home 100% puppy proof they find a new way to put themselves in danger. |

| Re: House Roaming a puppy at 10 weeks is just to young to be trolling around the house while you are gone. there are exceptions, buuuuuttttttt i wouldent assume the exceptional just yet. I know of little angels that end up yanking or playing withsome thing as they have the run of the house and guess what. televisions pulled down. opening cabnet doors. great access to poison. hurt or killed by falling bookcases. its only my opinion just be carefull |

| Re: House Roaming I have to agree that 10 weeks is too young to have the run of the house. I would definitely go with crating or gating off a section for the youngster. |

| Re: House Roaming It depends with every puppy, but most people I know let their dogs have semi-free roaming around 8-12 months of age. Julius wasn't allowed to roam until he was around a year of age & then he was only confined to the kitchen by a baby gate. Then we slowly increased the area that he was allowed to be in. I would say that ten weeks is WAAAYYY too early for a dog to have free roaming in the house.

| Re: House Roaming Kona is 13 weeks and I am sure she would go potty in the house, if no one were here to let her out. She, too, is crate trained. |

| Re: House Roaming I think too she should be crate trained. We had this discussion at work the other day, my friend thinks that her 11 month old pup should have the run that her older (8 and 12 years) dogs have. I also wonder what these non crate trained dogs do when they need to be in a crate, such as having to go to a kennel. She now has a crate. |

| Re: House Roaming Quote:
Please crate train your puppy, or at the very least keep her sufficiently contained in one 'safe' room while you're away. Crate training can be invaluable. Dogs consider crates their 'safe haven', once they've been trained to use one, and they can mean the difference between a happy coexistance with your pup, or a very unhappy coexistance with your pup - destructive dogs are no fun to live with.
