Average time to fill out

So my guy is 12 1/2 months. When will he really start filling out to the point that I'll notice some kind of difference. Especially his head?

Re: Average time to fill out

My dog is almost 2 years now and he did gain about 7 pounds since 12 months of age, and his head got a tiny bit bigger. Also, every dog is different, it depends on genetics.

As stated,it does depend a lot on genetics. Did you see the sire and dam of your pup? What were their heads like? If your boy has a nice width of topskull and lots of cheek, it should fill out nicely. If he has a smaller head with not much width, then it may not end up being a large head. And even saying that, genetics can and will play tricks on all lines of dogs.

In terms of filling out, most dogs get their length and height during their first year of growth. They will then begin to fill out and it can take up to the age of 4 years for them to get all their final filling out and muscling developed.

No matter what, he will be a wonderful companion and it doesn't really matter if he has a big head or not.
