Quick question about her first oestrus

Hello,

My 8 month old rottweiler is going through her first period. She has been bleeding lightly for just over 2 weeks ago. During this period, her genetalia have been swollen. In the past few days, they seemed to be excessively so. I know that some swelling is normal, I'm just wondering how much is some. Any help would be appreciated.

many times it looks like a baby orangutans!
during heat, the vagina swells thruout estrus, then slowly goes back to normal unless pregnant.
heat lasts about 21-28 days.

That explains a lot! I was all wondering and couldn't wait any longer until my vet's appointment on tuesday, thought I'd seek help here ;)
