Puppy Vaginitis???????

My little girl who is now 12 weeks old has been having some slimey yellow green discharge after uriniating. It's quite nasty as it will rub off on your pants if your holding her. I understand that infections like this often happen and clear up after the first heat. I have been limiting her water as I have done for all my puppies prior to make housebreaking easier (of course they have all been males.) Should I no longer do this? I have been giving her water 5 times a day, three of the times are with her meals. I am so mad at myself thinking I may have caused this by simply trying to control intake to control output.

The only time I "limit" water with puppies is on the overnight. Trim up the fur on the tip of her vulva and wipe her off every time she comes in from peeing. This will help somewhat. Also, you can add a tsp of apple cider vinegar to her food and also cranberry capsules.....even though it's not a UTI, it can help.

If it is PV, you do need to wait until after her first heat to spay her.

Thanks! I won't limit her water anymore for sure! I won;t give her any through the night either though. She does indeeed need a bit of a trim there so I'll get right to it. Thanks so much!

My Cipher had vaginitis. My vet had me flush her vulva with a weak solution of betadine. I filled a bowl with warm water and put enough betadine to make a weak "tea" color and then filled a very large syring with no needle. It was not easy to do the flushing, but did it twice a day. It seemed to help. I also did the cranberry pills.
