About puppies ears during teething

My puppy is at teething stage and i can't figure out how to keep her ears from turning out. Her ears are not sitting proper. Does anyone have any suggestions that could help me with this problem. I would like to be able to show her so i want to fix the problem before it is to late.
Thank you

Post Re: About puppies ears during teething

It is common for pup's ears to start flying when teething. Get in touch with your breeder and ask for some suggestions. We used to massage Baxter's ears..when they started to fly, and my breeder suggested we try taping. We did not tape though, because he was sold as a pet puppy..and we really did not care about his ears.

One of his ears still tends to fly...but I honestly think it's because his ear leather is not thick and it does not want to stay down. I learned from my breeder that Baxter's sire had problem ears as a pup...but with massage and taping they ended up fine. Flying ears are genetic.

taping works good, ask your breeder about the correct way of doing that...hard to explain on a forum:-)

Flying? Not familiar with this term. Is that just flipping up and inside out? Guess I haven't had a problem with this.

Re: About puppies ears during teething

If you don't have a breeder to help you out, you can also do a search on Google for "canine ear taping" and you will find some sites that have pics, etc. on how to do it.

If you want to fix the ears, it must be done during the time they are teething. If you wait too long after that time (up until they are about 6 - 6.5 months old) then you will not be able to retrain the cartlidge for correct ears.

Good luck

Thanx for the help

Does anyone have an answer to this? Is taping suggested only when ears tend to go inside out?
