| ROTTI INFO/help I have 2 rotti/boxer mixes.(they are 3 months old)the male when you pick him up he growls and acts like hes gonna atack.like ill help him pull up on the bed.and he acts like hes gonna attack me,but he knows im just putting him on the bed.what makes him this way and how can i get him to quit?other than thats hes nice. **also i recently put a chain(the collar kind) to get them use to so i can put thier tags on it eventually.well they did not like it being on them the girl got use to it and if you put it on her shes ok with it but sometimes she acts sad like. but with the male, when I put his chain collar on,he acts very sad and covers his face up and sometimes he go's crazy trying to get it off of him.so i gave him a bath to get his mind o:confused off of it but that didnt work.so lately ive been giving them treats and saying good boy, when i put the collar on but he still acts sad and he wont play.so i tried a regular collar(the cloth like kind),but he dosent like that kind either.so how should i get him to wear the collar? |

| Welcome to the forums. You will learn alot by reading many of the posts here. I suggest you read any of the "stickys" that are posted at the top of each forum...lots of good information there. Please do not use choke chains on 12 week old puppies. These should only be used for training on older, bigger dogs and never left on as a regular collar. Go and buy some nyon, flat adjustable collars and that both dogs wear them all of the time. The will get used to them quickly. Some people take the collars off when their dogs go into the crates also. Choke chains are dangerous to leave on dogs all of the time...dogs can get teeth or paws caught in them while playing and choke to death. Please read the thread about raising two puppies. You must raise these pups seperatly...seperate crates, sperate feeding, seperate training and walks, etc. Do NOT leave them together for hours at a time....give them special play times throughout the day to have fun, etc....but seperate them after. If you do not do this they will bond with one another...and you will have a very hard time in the future with them both. Please do not lift your pup up and carry him around...he is old enough to be using his four good legs. Do not let your pups on your bed or furniture...not a good idea with a strong willed breed. Get signed up for Puppy classes and keep taking classes with both of the dogs for the next few years. If you don't you will have behavioural problems with them in the future. Gina

| Re: ROTTI INFO/help I second brunie's mom's comment that it is difficult to raise two puppies at the same time. Please take her advice and do a search on raising two puppies. You have your work cut out for you. Your puppies should be crated at night, not up on the bed. And no chain collars on puppies. Flat buckle collars are in order. |

| Re: ROTTI INFO/help Blitz - full Rottie never liked being picked up as a pup, so since the first day we nipped it in the bud. as long as he doesnt mind you feeling, petting on him anywhere and it stays with just not being picked up.. no problem - i dont see one anyways. I did not correct this and I allowed him to make his choice on being picked up or not. Now that being said after a few baths he got to where he would let me or my wife lift him but noone else and it stayed that way from then on. My arguement on this... when he hits 100 or so lbs.. whos going to try to lift/carry him? not a problem... |

| Re: ROTTI INFO/help They are puppies and do not need the choke collars they need fun. Train them with fun things. A flat collar would be best now. Choke collars can cause damages if not used properly. Two puppies growing up together can cause problems from severe fighting and other things. You cannot focus on one which means they bond together and forget the humans. This will lead to bad doggies. Crate training will assist you in saving your house and your dogs life. It is not cruel but a safety place for your pups. Get each one their own crate. If they bond together they have no need for you and then they can become aggressive towards humans. Place the flat nylon collars on them and leave them on them. They will soon get used to them and ignore it. This will work for leashes too. When you first place a leash on a dog they will flip normally and all you have to do is allow the dog to walk around with it on. Soon they will forget about it and realize leash and collar = walks which is FUN. Are you going to sign these pups up for classes??? I would highly suggest it quickly and get them under control asap or you could be in a world of trouble.
