puppy drinking alot of water

Hi, I'm new to this site. I have an 8 week old rottweiler/german shepherd mix puppy named Lola. I also have a 1 1/2 yr old mini schnauzer named Ricky. My question is, is it normal for my Lola to drink alot of water, and get up in the middle of the night for water? She doesn't show the signs or symptoms of a UTI. I don't want to be too anal about things, but Lola and Ricky are my babies! I know that she is going to be a much bigger dog than Ricky, but Ricky never drank that much water when he was a baby, and Lola drinks more than him now! I have grown up with "big" dogs as a child, but they were "outside" dogs. Lola, is in the house with us. I just don't want to seem too overly concerned. So, if anyone out there has experienced this, I would love to hear from you.....Thank you so much, and I look forward to sharing my experiences about Lola and Ricky with you!!!

My own experience is that some dogs simply drink more. Being only 8 weeks, yes...she will have to go during the night. Just to be sure you may want to mention it at your next vet visit. Diabetes would be another cause for excessive drinking.

Hooch has always drank alot of water. I wouldn't worry about that too much. I would worry more if your pup didn't drink enough water.

rarely will too much water be a bad thing other then trying to house train... so I wouldn't worry about it.

Mine is a little older but he drinks crazy amounts of water all in one sitting sometimes (like almost a litre) and he is fine.

Your puppy is probably running and going and playing and sleeping :o)) All that activity makes them thirsty, I wouldn't worry, but do check with your vet if you are concerned. Enjoy your new puppy :o))
