new after eating habit

In the last week or so Brew (who is now 3 1/2 months old) has started rubbing his face with his paws and making strange sounds after eating. He eats very quickly and I assume that it is just to get the kibble bits off his face, but am seeking some conformation on this, or is it a possible allergy?
No other symptoms though. Just thought that maybe it was weird that it just started.
All opinions/advice would be greatly appreciated.

At this age..your puppy could be starting to teethe. Eating may aggravate his baby teeth that will soon start to loosen and be replaced by adult teeth. You might have your vet check to be sure.

Re: new after eating habit

he is definitely teething, thanks for the opinion, I would not have thought of that as a reason for the behaviour.

It may help to put a little warm water on the pup's kibble to soften it a bit and you can freeze peeled whole carrots or bananas for the puppy to chew on to help soothe those sore gums. The cold feels good :o)

Re: new after eating habit

Yeah...poor guys teething bad.

I froze tons of different things to help relieve Oscar's teething. His favorite was frozen baby carrots (or regular carrots for that matter), frozen watermelon chunks, frozen apple slices, regular ice cubes...pretty much ANYTHING frozen. haha! I've only found 1 vegetable that this dog doesn't like so far...celery. Go figure?! He also loved chewing on stuffed toys as they didn't irritate as badly. And at your pups age he shouldn't really be chewing through them as of yet. Give him a few more months and it'll be dead stuffies everywhere! haha!

Re: new after eating habit

I soaked rope tug toys in water and popped them in the freezer. This seemed to help with teething.

Re: new after eating habit

this forum is awesome!!!
I never would have thought from what I was seeing that it was teething, but this morning in the middle of breakfast he whined and moved away from his bowl, I gave him an ice cube and after gobbling that up, he went back and fininshed his meal.
Thanks everyone!!!
