Angry Afriad of the dark

My Roxy's Afraid of the dark!

When we take her for walks it's better NOT to go after dark!

She is scared any suggestions? We do still try every so often;

And yes even when it's dark trying to get her used to it!

Not every nite but some......?

So, start desensitizing her to the dark. Go more for walks at twilight and dark hours. She needs YOU to be confident and not feeding into it.

Re: Afriad of the dark

That just means you have to get her out in the dark even more! And do not play into her fearfulness, don't coddle her, don't beg her to go with you. Don't tell her it is okay when it is not!

Have a pocket of treats (take her for the walk when she is hungry, before she has eaten) and hold those treats in front of her and treat her often. Be very positive, be upbeat, go at a brisk pace if possible and give her lots of confidence-building praise. Do lots of short sessions, ask her to do sits now and then and treat, treat, treat!
