| Car sickness Hello everyone! My husband and I are new to the forum and we're also new, first time Rottweiler owners as well. First I want to say this forum is wonderful, so full of information! We have a 4 month old male, Harley, and I have a question/concern that I hope someone can give me some thoughts from their own experience. Everytime we take Harley in the car, he gets car sick. This has happened every single time from his first car ride home. Our vet suggested Dramamine, so we tried it today to take Harley for a routine checkup with the vet (gave it to him 1 hour before we left home). He was fine on the drive there, however, was very sick on the ride home....again. We've tried taking short trips, trying to work up to the long ones, but it seems he'll be sick no matter how long he's in the car. He had breakfast approx. 6 hours before we left the house. Will he out grow this or will Harley never enjoy riding in the car? Thanks for you help! Chris |

| Re: Car sickness welcome to the forums! There is usually about one thread a month about "car sick", so if you use the search function (on the action bar at the top) you will find all tips people have given, and see if anything fits. ![]() one of those threads is found here: http://www.rottweiler.net/forums/pup...-sickness.html?

| Re: Car sickness Welcome Harley's Mama! My pup went through the same thing... luckily he got over it quickly. I never had a need to give gravol or dramamine, however the vet says it works quite well. What I did was I made sure not to feed right before car trips (at least 2 hours in advance). I would keep the radio off, have the windows slightly down for cool fresh air, and I would make sure not to make any sudden stops or quick sharp turns. I would also talk to my boy softly and reassure him that everything was OK. You can give them their favorite chew toy too, it keeps them distracted. This really worked for us. Marcino hasn't been car sick since |

| Re: Car sickness Thanks for the tips. We always have the window open for him and we did notice this time that if we talk to him, he does seem to get distracted with it, but got sick the moment we stopped. I'll try the chew toy the next time, I really don't like giving him the dramamine......not that it helped anyway. I feel so bad for him! |

| Re: Car sickness Added to the other tips you can take him for a very short ride. One block only or so everyday. Then 2 blocks for a few weeks.......and so on. Will help him not be so anxious.
