markings and color

I was just wondering if the markings and colors change at all when he loses his puppy coat and get's his adult coat?

My pup is a great Rott/lab mix who has the rust eye and cheek markings as well as the legs/paws and chest. However he doesn't have and muzzle markings. (he must get that from his lab side!) I know he won't "grow" new markings but I was wondering if he is at risk for losing any of his markings since his eye and cheek markings are small and faint.

Re: markings and color

There is a possibility it could happen. Most markings get a bit darker when going from the puppy coat to the adult coat. Not a certainty, but very possible that he could lost even more of his markings as this happens.
