Re: New Crate Question.......

Hello all!
New to forum and requesting advice... Receiving two rottie pups in the new year, and thinking of crate training. Wanted to know if it was wise to house both in same crate? Getting a 54" with dividers, so it shouldn't be too large as pups. But, will it become an issue once they get larger? Will housing both in same crate interfer with natural instincts, or interfer with training?
Any replys are appreciated.

Re: New Crate Question.......

I would not house the puppies in the same crate. It is difficult enough to raise two puppies and have them bond to you rather then to each other. Housing together will make it more difficult. They need to be treated as individuals, trained seperately, played with seperately and allowed to develop as seperate individuals.

I would strongly recommend that you just get one pup. One is plenty to train and raise properly. You will have your hands full with just one.

Post Re: 2 puppys in same crate?

I agree...please do NOT get two pups at the same time. No decent breeder would be selling you two pups at the same time.

The Rottweiler breed needs alot of work, training and attention to grow up decently...it's almost impossible to do this correctly by having two pups at once.

If you do not take our advise and plan on getting two pups...then make sure you get one of each sex...do not get two pups of the same sex. Also plan on keeping them in seperate crates and do not let them spend most of their time together. Give them a few times in the day for playing together...but train, feed and play with them seperatly throughout the day. This is why it is so much work.

Take them to obedience classes seperatly as well as socializing them seperatly.

Are the pup's parents OFA'd? Do they have any titles ?
