4 Month Puppy food agression...?

We got our Pup @ 8 weeks and he is now 4 months... No problems (except biting his leash). Anyways, last night he was eating a bone (similar to a jumbo bone) he was REALLY into it and it was right before his dinner time (so he was hungry).

I decided to take it away,,,as I approached, he tried to guard it, as I extended my hand he gave a growl,,,and when I took it out of his mouth, he actually bit me...nothing major,,,but I am a bit upset, he has never shown any aggression or has guarded his food bowl, any of his toys,,,even other bones.

We actually try to feed him by hand as much as possible, (don’t bite the hand that feeds you).

Any recommendations,,,I just would not want this to happen to my little sister (8yrs old) I know not to put her in that situation is the best,,,but I just want to feel confident this wont happen again...

Any comments, recommendations thoughts would be appreciated.

( please note he has been on puppy kindergarten for 3 weeks so we will also be brining this up @ our next session)
