Update on Max

For those that have followed Max's poop issues...I have good news, so far anyway! We have had solid poop for almost 3 weeks now Yippeeeeee!!!!! He's on the low residue formula from the vet, and we'll try to transition him to a "normal" food in a few weeks as long as the poo stays solid. But hey! We're getting there!

Max was in for neutering on Wednesday. We now have to concentrate on getting his weight up to par a bit. He's 47 pounds at 6.5 months - skin and bones rather than lean and lanky. We had the preliminary bloodwork done as well before the neutering, and his protein level was slightly low, but the vet said that considering his weight, he would have been surprised if it was normal. We'll get some weight on him and recheck the protein level again and hopefully it's as simple as that.

Also had the vet check his front legs, as on occasion, he wimpers if he moves just so. The initial x-rays showed some "rough cartilage" on both shoulders, but not bad enough to really warrant surgery at this point. We will be keeping a close eye on the progress of that...

Now that we've kind of gotten of the shock of the triplets coming...Max will be thrilled that someone will be home all day! Good thing too, because his crate location is going to have to move - it's currently in the dining room, and our table will be getting 3 places bigger soon. Haven't decided where to put the crate yet, but hey..what's one more thing to add to the list of things to figure out in the next 6 months?!?!

So...there's the latest scoop on Max...hopefully, we can report a complete fix to the poop issues and a perfect protein and weight score soon!

Glad to hear that Max is feeling better. Fingers crossed for solid poops when you try to add some other kibble.

It is a shame that you did not wait till he was a bit older, stonger and healthier for him to be neutered. He is underweight and has been struggling with his runny stool problems for awhile. It would have made more sense to wait till he was a healthy weight and 9-10 months old or even over a year.

I don't understand why your vet chose to do the surgery???
