| Few Problems. Hi, i got a 15 Week rottweiler, and he is showin sings of aggression towards me. I no sometimes he's playing like be bouncing around, however sometimes he contantly barks and is bitting hard, causin blood to come out. I believe i have tried everything, Yalping loud like a littermate would, also tried to ignore him, however that doesnt work. I have also tried to put him in the kitchen for a few minutes, however none of these seem to work. So any suggestions would be a great help. Also, i have started to take him to the field in the morings, when i wake up, as i want him to get used to doing his business in the field. However I can barely get him to do a Pee- just about if hes burst, otherwise he'll neva do and number 2. He'll just wait till we get home. today i was in the park for ages, just waiting, howver did not work. Another querier was feeding, I have currently got him on science plan, puppy, howver have heared all in one food aint the best stuff. So in the morings i have started to feed him Scrambled eggs, with Wholemeal bread, or wheatabix--but just wondering if milk was okay for them. For lunch I still give him science plan. And for dinner, i give him brown rice, with boild chicken- just wondering if i could give it to him raw at this age. I no theres loads of questions there but any help would be greatly appreated. Thanks alot. |

| At 15 weeks old, he's a pup - with lots of stuff to explore and learn. Pups use their mouths to explore. Its not aggression so much as excitement that causes him to use his teeth. A firm "NO!" or "AH AHH" then redirection to an appropriate chew item, and PRAISE when he's got his teeth on something he IS allowed to have his teeth on. In regards to potty - stay out there until he DOES go...could be 2 minutes, could be 2 hours...pups don't run on a set plan . No play, no fun time until potty is over with. If he is off leash in the field, keep him ON leash until he does his business.I have noticed with my dogs here that they seem to sniff the entire yard before going back to the spot where they started sniffing to do their poop...they are not so much as looking for the perfect spot, I think they are just getting things moving along in their systems by walking around. As for the food, if Science Plan is the same as Science Diet, then yes, it is not a good food, however, his morning and evening meals might not include the stuff he needs to maintain a healthy growing puppy body. Canidae, Wellness, California Natural, Innova, Royal Canin Natural Blend, Eagle Pack Holistic Formula - all of these are good foods that have been discussed here on the forums...ALOT. There is no ONE perfect food for all dogs. These foods will cost more than the Science Plan but you won't need to feed as much, which will mean the bag will last longer, you'll have less poop, and it will more than likley be less expensive to feed a better food. Be patient, he is young and has alot to learn - from you. |

| One of our members(Damp) wrote an excellent thread on puppy aggression: http://www.rottweiler.net/forums/puppy-development/49360-aggressive-dominante-pups.html If your interested in a Raw diet go to the nutrition part of the forums and there are lots of threads on raw. Just use the search feature on Raw diets or Barf.

| With the rough playing, you will simply need to keep working on it and you will find many suggestions in the puppy forum. What works with one pup, might not work with another. You will discover by trial and error what is the most effective with yours. I would suggest that you consult with your breeder regarding the best foods available in the UK. Many young dogs are reserved about relieving themselves off their own property and feel better about doing so at home. This is not a bad policy in that you are not guilty of fouling public property with your dog's leavings for other people to step in or deal with. It is being a responsible owner to have your dog potty on its own property, or at least cleaning up after it when elsewhere.

| I initially fed Pedigree but than I purchased Techni-Cal from the pet store (in UK). I hope it is a good choice as he seems to be doing well on it. His coat is much shinier, his poop more bearable (spelling) and he actually stopped eating his own poop as an extra benefit. Costs reasonable amount of money. Renata |

| what to do? Hello all, I have a two month old female rotty named Harley. She chews on everything and I know that you just need to have patience and be persistant with corrections and praise. My question is, she sometimes growls when she is picked up by myself or my girlfriend. She has also been around two other dogs now, a 130lb mastiff/ pitbull and a 75lb pitbull. She is 2 mths old as of yesterday and weighs 17-18 pounds. Even though both these dogs are much bigger she was quite snarley when they got in her space, growling and snapping at them. Is she just standing her ground or being aggressive? The other 2 were quite tolerant and she played with the pitbull for 2 days and it did get better but the odd time she would still snap at him. Please advise. |

Is there a reason why you are picking up your puppy?
