Humping

OK - I witnessed something quite odd the other day and then again yesterday. My 4 month girl has been crawling all over my older girl (usually tries to crawl on her head when she's lying down). I've been putting a stop to it when it gets out of control but now if she made it on top without too much protest from the bigger one, she started humping her head LIKE MAD!!! Needless to say I get her off of there immediately. Definitely a disturbing site though! I'm sure other people have humping stories... is this normal?

Although it may be normal "For Dogs", sometimes sexual, sometimes dominance. I would put a halt to it like yesterday. She knows darn well your child is not another dog and my guess is she is dominating your daughter.

I'm not sure I would let a dog like this, even at 4 months old get anywhere near my child till she learned her manners.

I only have one story. A female dog , tried on my leg during some very rough stimulating play. She was 6 months old and it never happened again. She got a what for from me I don't think she cares to see again.

Your younger dog is humping your older dog because of hormonal shifts going on as she grows up. Yes it's normal, and no, you should not allow it.

Did I misread? I read the younger dog was humping THE OLDER CHILD!!!!!!.............

I guess I did misread. I took "older girl" as being a child.......

Sorry! I wasn't clear... they are both dogs. Although the older one thinks she's a person. Thanks, BostonRott ... good to know that there's some reason behind it. I'll keep on top of it (excuse the pun).
