Rottweiler puppies should not be eating puppy food, unless it's a Large Breed Puppy Food. A premium quality adult food is even better...as some of the other's have suggested...Canidae, Innova, Wellness, Solid Gold, etc. If you cannot get these foods...then Nutro Natural or even ProPlan is a step up from Pedigree. Pedigree has poor quality ingredients, contains mostly grains and is full of fillers and by-products. You have to feed a whole lot more of this food then you do a good quality food and the amount of huge, yellow poop that comes out is unbelievable!!! Spend your money on good food and you will feed alot less, have a much healthier dog in the long run and I find that pups and dogs that get more meat as a protein in their diet seem calmer and easier to focus. They also have better coats, less shedding, little or no doggie smell and better muscle definition. Gina

| Well, I feed Pedigree, and my dogs are in excellent condition, I have also raised my pups on pedigree, I just talked a client into feeding his Boxer Pedigree and she is doing well. I understand some dogs just don't do well on it, but then maybe they have some sort of underlying problem. 30 years ago there were a handfull of feed out there, today it is outrageous. I like it, because it is available and it appears to be quite fresh and consistant. Each dog is different, if they have allergies, or digestive problems, then maybe Pedigree isn't for them, but it is a good food. |

These are the ingredients in Pedigree Healthy Start Puppy Food. There is not one ingredient in there that is decent. If all you have ever fed is Pedigree or some other grocery store brand of food, then give a higher quality food a chance. Many forums members here thought they were feeding their dogs "the best" and that their dogs were doing well...till they got reading and learned about the crap that is put into mediocre dog food....they changed for the best. | I would never allow a puppy I sold to eat anything you can buy at the store. I feed Canidae. And that is what goes home with the puppies and Adults I place. I know of a Chow Breeder who feeds old roy's to all his dogs and they look good. But I would never allow it.You get out what you put in.Better food, less poop. Donna |

My dog ate Pedigree for several years until I learned a bit more about nutrition. When I switched to Canidae, my girl got down to a healthy weight, her coat looked better, she pooped less, and she farted less. Sorry, do the research and then read your label. The dogs can't digest the corn, why would you feed it a food with corn as the FIRST ingredient? Chicken by-products - sure my dogs love chicken feet but that doesn't mean they don't need any REAL meat.

Pet food article I have personally fed lower quality foods and have seen an instant change when putting my dogs on better quality foods...better coats, better stools and better teeth, plus better smells being emitted! I have done tons of research into dog foods and personally feel that I am not going to fill my dog full of cancer causing preservatives, even if he is only going to end up with it any way...I want to know that *I* did nothing to cause the cancer. I lost a siberian husky to liver cancer that was attributed to the BHT/BHA that was in the food she was eating. I personally will not risk it.

| I have fed my pit bull pedigree for two years and you want to talk about muscle tone. I have gotten more compliments on her beautiful coat and muscle tone it's not even funny. I have had offer after offer to breed her but she is fixed. My rottie has eaten pedigree for 6 months same thing beautiful coat and a great body. I stated earlier that I have tried a couple of the premium dog foods and my pit got sick. I took her off and went to pedigree and ever since she has been great. The yellow stool im not sure where that comes from cause neither of my babes have yellow stool. It looks like regular brown poop to me. I will say that all I will feed my babes is pedigree. I asked their vet if it was a good food for them and he can't say no. He even said that is what he feeds his pits. |

| I used to feed pedigree but noticed that I had to feed twice as much of it as I do Dimond and the stools were loose and the gas unbearable. I also tryed DogChow and wasn't pleased. All of my breeder friends use Dimond so I decided to try and it and was amazed at the results. No Gas, Beautiful coats and alot healthier. But, whatever works best for your dog I say go for it. I am however Totally agaonst Old Roy. One of the crappiest feeds out there in my opinion. |

| As far as the ol roy I agree 1000%. That was one I had tried before going to pedigree and it was unbearable. All the symptoms I have seen about the pedigree we had with the ol roy. I think that is the crapiest of crap. |

| When I started in Rottweilers 16 years ago I tryed all kinds of foods. From Store bought to the higher quality food.I asked Vets and then asked other people and then did my own research. Iv'e learned a few thinks durning this time. One Vets don't know jack about dog food. They sell science diet!!And that is not a good food either. Two I want to give my dogs the best I can not just what they can get by on.If your dogs are getting by on store bought food, just think what they would be getting out of a better quality food. | When Raelin was a pup, she was fed a "decent" food. At about 6 m/o, she started getting yeast infedtions in her ears, despite my cleaning efforts. Also her stools were the kind you would hose into the ground! I tried a few different foods, including some of the "high quality" foods mentioned earlier here. All had different results, and I finally found one that suited her very well. No more ear infections, solid stools, and her weight, energy level, coat, teeth are all excellent! It is a high end food, but still cost me a lot less per month than having to pay for the ointment for her ear infections.

Most dogs will have a digestive upset when you switch foods, it should be done slowly and maybe you just didnt find the "right" premium food or you didnt give them enough time. When you switch a food you need to give it three months to see any difference, it is not instanteous. (sp)
