bitting to much

me and my wife just got a rotty at 7 weeks, she is a great dog and we love her, she did great right from day 1 even with sleeping, now she is almost 11 weeks and the problem we are having is she does not know that bitting people is bad, we don't hit her , but it seems like we have tried everything from squirt bottle to making dog noises as well as holding her mouth shut and saying no. is this just something she will grow out of with consistancy and patience. if anyone has other ideas that have worked for them i would love to know
thanks: roxyroxy

Just a few recent threads. At 11 weeks, your not going to get it to stop, its how puppy's explore thier new world. Patience, patience, and consistency is the key. THey will grow out of it, as long as you don't ecourage it. It will probably be still an issue until their done teething, 5-6 months. It shouldn't be AS bad then, but the teething definately fuels some more mouthing. I still have clothes with holes in them from all the ankle biting, scabbed over wounds on my ankles, holes in my cuffs of my shirts, around the belly.

When I couldn't stand it any longer, I'd douse my hands in louisiana hotsauce, and when he'd go to mouth, "bleh!!". IT was still only a temporary fix.
