Innova Puppy dry dog food for my 7 month rottie...

I am new to this forum and what a goldmine of info. This is my first rottie and I have to say after about 10 different dogs in my life she is by far the best. My only problem with her is her excretion habits. She listens very well and she does tell memost of the time when she has to go out, but we've had some problems as of late.

We just moved into a new house. About 2 months previous to us moving Athena had a run in with worms. For the life of me, as I write this post, I can't remember what type, but they weren't harmful and they were not transmittable to humans. She had the runs for a good few days. My vet tested her stool and stated that she had worms and prescribed Panacur C. I gave it to her as directed and all seemed well. Things was we also have two small dogs that also
exhibited the "mucosal layering on the stool" and we assumed that they had it to. Gaave them the same treatment and all was well.

When we moved we were told to get rid of all toys since the eggs are very resilent and could be transfered over to our new house, so we did. Well it seems that Athena has the runs again and she is having accidents in the house so I have to have her crated most of the time until the medicine works its way through again.

My concern lies in the fact that even though she has had a very soft stool the past few days that we moved in (I thought it might have been the move and nerves possibly) it wasn't until today that I observed the heavy mucosa on the stool. I have been feeding her Iams and she is very gassy and goes to the bathroom like an elephant would (large amounts...most of the times sloppy stools, but can be hard). I am almost sure that she has worms again so I will be treating her, but is it possibly the Iams is causing her to craplike an elephant??? After researching on here I have decided to try the Innova Puppy food. Is this ok?? Sorry for my ignorance.

I would have another stool sample checked to be sure there aren't any other types of worms present. They could have been missed the first time if they weren't in the right stage of their lifecycle.

If something in the Iams was bothering her, I don't think it would come and go, but instead be a constant problem.

Innova's foods are all good.

Re: Innova Puppy dry dog food for my 7 month rottie...

Innova is awesome food! However it is rich! So do follow the guidelines on feeding and do not over feed. I am currently feeding two of my adult dogs on Innova, two of my other adult dogs tend to gain weight on it, so I have to limit their intake of it.

Be careful of the new high protien innova food, it is in a silver bag, do not feed that to your pup, that is for mature dogs that are done growing. If you have any questions at all, call the company, (The phone numkber is on the back of the bag)I have found the company to be extremely helpful in any and all questions concerning their food.

I hope you don't mind my chiming in, but I have a 5 month old bitch and she does great on Blue Buffalo for pup's. Her stool's are firm and compact. I admit she often gets it with canned wild salmon, a single raw/boiled/fried egg, home made chicken or turkey broth, cale/collards, 100% pumpkin, however, she will eat it alone. If you can find it locally give it a try! She is definitely a high energy puppy who looks like she lifts weights

Re: Innova Puppy dry dog food for my 7 month rottie...

Hi Dillyyo. We had some digestive issue with our girl also when she was around 7 months old. I was told by alot of people to skip the "Puppy Stuff" and go right to the adult formula. That seemed to have solved to problem for us. I originally started with a raw diet, but it just didn't work out for us unfortunalty. I have tried Innova, Canidae and Blue Buffalo. So far, the Blue Buffalo is working the best out of all of them.

Hi NJ rott......I actually lived in Bergen county until the other week. I have switched my girl to raw diet and so far no problems. I have just been giving her raw beef and hamburger for now, but I am stopping at the butcher soI can get chicken backs and stuff like that. If it doesn't work out then I will be trying kibble again. Thanks for the input.

I used to use both Oma's Pride or Bravo foods as they contain more than just meat. Make sure your dog gets a balanced nutritional meal. In my opinion the raw diet is the best way to go if you do it right. Do a search on this forum, there is alot of good information.

I feed Innova adult to my puppy. If you call they will give you feeding guidelines. Feeding adult food to puppies is not metioned on the bag, so the amounts are diffrent...
