I have a very lively 13 wk old bitch Kya who is very good with everything apart from one thing. She is very mouthy but we redirect this with soft toys and she seems to be getting better. The problem is when my older rottie walks in front of her she is always biting at her hocks and when they are in the garden together and she is having one of her many mad five minutes she bites her legs constantly. Rio seems to take it for so long then she will growl or bark at her which stops Kya for a moment then she just carries on as if nothing as happened. I've also noticed she is now doing the same when my husband or myself walks in front of her, she will grab at the trousers leg. Is this just normal puppy behaviour? We start puppy classes next week so hopefully this will help.

Re: Puppy Biting at my other rottie Sounds normal. The little boogers! God made them adorable so we'd put up with the annoying stuff, I think. :) I'd be discouraging it, however - or redirecting. Puppies have to learn the etiquette and rules of the household. Rio will probably help enforce her limits, as well. ;)

Re: Puppy Biting at my other rottie I think it's normal and your older dog is doing what you should....telling the puppy when enough is enough. The puppy may start back up again with Rio but I get she's not nipping as hard.

| Re: Puppy Biting at my other rottie Looks like you have 2 normal Rottweilers! ![]() It must be great to have a good "old" mental stable bitch (don't know her age) to be a "mentor" for your pup! Learn from your bitch!!! She seems to be very patient but also tells the pup when enough is enough!

Re: Puppy Biting at my other rottie Since my last post, Kya has now started nipping humans on the back of the legs also. It usually happens when they are walking back from the garden into the house, she can just be walking behind them then all of a sudden she just nips at the back of the legs. I tell her off verbally but I'm not sure what else there is to do. I don't always have a toy to hand when this happens so I cannot redirect her that way. Would it be worth taking a treat out with me and preocupy her with that when she is coming back into the house ?
