Rough Play

One more question. My puppy almost 4 mo old (male will be neutered at end of month) plays very rough with my female GS. She will not hurt him but when she is tired of him she will pin him down by the neck he just lays there till she lets go then starts chewing on her especially her tail again until he gets tired out. He has two energy spurts once in the morning and once at night. Otherwise he is a good boy and sleeps most of the day unless he needs to go out. He loves his chew toys especially raw hide. Is it OK to allow him to play that rough with my GS? He dose not try that with me when he even tries to put my hand in his mouth he is corrected. But I feel sorry for my GS. I figured she would correct him and she dose eventually but I feel sorry for her.

Re: Rough Play

It's exactly like you said, "he's just playing." The GSD will give him a warning when she gets tired of him. You can also seperate them if he's getting out of control.

You shouldn't feed your pup raw-hide, it's unsafe because puppies can choke on them. Instead try out some Bully Sticks, they're much safer.

You should do some forum searching on neutering, if possible it's better to wait until he's 8 months to a year old.

How old is your gs? Just curious. She's showing him that she is still the boss, she was there first and he needs to respect her.

Are you training with your puppy? Is he getting exercise through the day? And please don't give your puppy rawhide. It's a choking hazard and it's plain just not good for them.

Re: Rough Play

I also wanted to ask the question about neutering. Why are you having it done so soon. Please do a search on neutering and you'll see the benefits of waiting till his is at least a year old.
