Re: food any good

Living in the States, I've never heard of this food. I looked it up, and it seems that all the varieties are made primarily of grains. The second ingredient is "meat meal," which is very distressing since "meat" could be anything. It is also worrisome to see BHT used, since it is a likely carcinogen. Overall, this looks to be a very low quality food. Generally, you want the majority of the food to be comprised of a named (like "chicken" or "beef") meat or meats (first 1+ ingredients) and plant matter should play a more minor role.

Examples:

Wagg Complete Original Beef & Veg Dog Food contains Wheat, Meat Meal, Wheatfeed, Maize, Oils & Fats, Linseed, Beet Pulp, Peas, Lucerne,Vitamins and Minerals. Added Citrus, Yeast and Yucca. With Antioxidant: EC additive.

Wagg Complete Premium Dog Food contains Wheat, Meat Meal, Wheatfeed, Maize, Chicken Meat Meal (min 4% in Chicken Kibble), Carrot & Rice (min 20% in Carrot/Rice Disc), Oils & Fats, Linseed, Beet Pulp, Peas (min 4% in Pea Kibble), Lucerne, Vitamins & Minerals. Added Citrus, Yeast & Yucca. With Antioxidant and Preserved with: EC additives.

Wagg Complete Worker Chicken Dog Food contains Wheat, Meat Meal, Wheatfeed, Fat, Chicken Meat Meal (min 5% in Chicken Kibble), Digest, Linseed, Beet Pulp, Peas (min 4% in Pea Kibble), Maize, Lucerne. With added Citrus, Yeats & Yucca. With Antioxidant: BHT.

If you look through this forum, you will see many examples of foods that are recommended, like Orijen, Innova, Wellness, etc. Though some may not be available in England, many are available online.

Hope this helps.

Re: food any good

Orijen is probably one of the the best food's you can get over here, we don't have the choices of those that live in the States.

I get mine online from Pet Supplies, Pet Food, and Pet Products on Sale Now at zooplus.co.uk, not cheap but worth it.

Re: food any good

Oh, dear!

diane....the ingredients Lila's Mom listed for the food you're feeing points to it being...ghastly.

I encourage you to read thru the postings here in N&G. Doing so will clearly tell you what the ingredients are that go into good quality kibble and what ingredients are put into less-than-stellar food. Once armed with this knowledge, you’ll be in an excellent position to intelligently shop for food for your dog.
