BLUE dog food

I was wondering if anyone has heard anything about BLUE dog food. I have ruled out Canidae (new formula), EVO (too young), and Innova (have not heard good reviews for stool). I cannot find Orijen anywhere near my home. I heard about this food, but have not heard if it is good or bad. If anyone has any advice or info it would be appreciated. Thanks.

Re: BLUE dog food

I've never used it, but from the ingredients, it seems pretty decent, some grains, but no corn. Just check the calcium/phosphorus ratio on which ever flavor you go with, it should be about 1:1...

Re: BLUE dog food

Blue, as in Blue Buffalo?

If you go to their site and compare your dog's food to Blue, you get to compare Blue food to the likes of Beneful, Pedigree, SD, Iams, and Eukanuba.

Re: BLUE dog food

Blue seems to be a decent food, by reading the labels. I don't know anyone who has used it.
I find it kind of expensive and think if you want to pay that price you could do better.
Orijen isn't available around here either, I am hoping that with the success they are having they will start carrying it at more places.
It's really getting hard to find a good food that doesn't break the bank.
There are many foods that are great, but as is the case with my guy, he has a sensitive stomach, so evo red is probably out for him, as are the wellness brands.
I use California Natural Lamb and Rice after Canidae switched their formulas and it caused my dog tummy problems.
Let us know if you give it a try, I would love to hear of someone's experience actually using it.
I did go to their page once and they had free samples you could email for. Dodge liked it fine for a treat, but one sample bag certainly isn't going to tell you how your dog will react healthwise to it.

Re: BLUE dog food

Blue Buffalo worked well for us, however we found our local petco was carrying Natural Balance and it was comparable price and worked even better for our dogs coat, eyes, and gas. Maybe you could see if you can find it anywhere?

Re: BLUE dog food

On her currect feed, she poops almost 5 times a day! that just seems to be alot. She also has a sensitive stomach. If she eats anything out of the ordinary she get loose stool. She has it a few times a week on just dog food. I think I'll start switching to Jolie to Blue Buffalo LBP formula. How long before I should give her only the new food? Once I switch I'll let everyone know how she does. Thanks for the info and wish us luck on this food.

Re: BLUE dog food

I've tried Blue's chicken & brown rice formula; my dogs did very well on it and it seemed to be very palatable. However, the price is a bit much for my wallet these days.

Right now I am feeding Diamond Naturals chicken & rice. It's <$30 for 40# of food. My dogs love it, it's affordable, and it's accessible.

Re: BLUE dog food

I had my male 9 month old male on Blue Buffalo. It made him very sick. His stools were loose, his coat was dull, and his breath smelled. Also, he wasn't himself. And we gave him the soft food as a treat, it made him vomit even more. We took him off of it and put him on Avoderm (in my opinion it's just as good, but costs a lot less). We could tell he felt much better. However, he's been on the BARF diet (raw food/meat) for 2.5 months and he will never eat processed dog food again. The change in him has been amazing. He's energetic, smells great, poops a lot less, and doesn't swallow his food in one gulp. But if you're going to use processed food, definitely avoid anything with corn, but don't buy a brand based on price.
