Good food for rotts?

does anyone feed wellness just for puppy to their rotts? I just bought a bag and I was wondering if anyone has had good results with it. There was also a large breed puppy formula but it was way too expensive.

I think that is good food. most people suggest staying away from the puppy formulas, I have no personal experience with wellness, just what I've heard

Re: Good food for rotts?

Hi Dpage

You will gets lots of info on dog food from fellow rottie owners. I will tell you that about 6 months ago we changed our dogs over to a grain-free kibble after reading tons of threads here. Not only did their coats improve, but our older dog has been taken off her allergy mediciation (Atopica) that was costing us almost $300 per month. Due your research and you will get tons of great advice.

There is a website that you can see an analysis of all the different kibbles out there.... They rank the food from 1 star all the way to 6 star dog food. Check it out. Just Google "Dog Food Analysis" and it will be there.. It might even be as simple as dogfoodanalysis.com

Take care!!

Re: Good food for rotts?

We used to have Grizzly on Canidae but recently switched to EVO red meat, and he loves it. Eats with enthusiasm, no eye boogers, and no more gas and stool is solid. Coat has always looked very nice, even while on Canidae. Grain Free seems to be a great way to go.

Re: Good food for rotts?

I think Wellness is a good food. We did the supermix5 formula for a while and he did good on it. Then we tried the large breed puppy formula (new) when it came out. His eye boogers went out of control. We decided to try a grainless and use Taste of the wild now, the all fish formula. He is doing great on it. The food has great ingredients but the parent company has a spotty past (involved with a recall with another of thier product)and their fish sources are most likely not ethoxiquin free (Which Wellness guarentees their protien IS Ethoxiqhin free)
