Puppy food for 18 month old

Can I feed my 18 month old puppy food to fatten him up? He is on Evo and is just not putting any weight on. We are showing him and everyone says he needs weight. He is about 26 or 27 inches and 92 pounds. He is not a good eater.

Re: Puppy food for 18 month old

Olewo carrots help with nutritional uptake and can help add calories to diet. Give one tablespoon per feeding. They are carrots in a concentrated pellet form, and My puppy loves it. She keeps licking the bowl clean. You can also add a tablespoon of pure virgin coconut oil to his meal which would give an additional 125 calories. If you read up on coconut oil you will find out how beneficial it is for humans and dogs. Just start off with 1/2 table spoon per feeding because taking too much can give your boy loose stools. If you don't believe in coconut oil. Buy flaxseed oil, or different kind of fish oils and add them to his meals! Or Add a cooked egg or two to his meals you can try a raw egg, but my puppy's system couldn't handle it raw.

Re: Puppy food for 18 month old

How much EVO are you feeding now? You can up the amount or try switching to a food that has grains in it...grains = carbs. This is what I'm doing now with my GSDx...she really needs to gain...if only I had her lack of appetite! I switched her from EVO to Innova Adult (green bag). Plus, I'm adding Merrick soft food in with it so it makes it more appealing.

Personally, I think your pup is probably a perfect weight and will gain muscle mass and therefore weight over the next 18 mos of his life. Remember, they don't totally fill out until 2-3 yrs old.

I don't get it...why do show people like chunky dogs???? You see it in most all the breeds...
