| American Natural Premium I stopped in to pick up some dog and cat food and started to peruse the selection that End of the Leash has. Mainly looking to see if there was a food as good as California Natural, but a little less expensive. One of the shop gals pointed me in the direction of American Natural Premium, and gave me a free sample. It is an All Life stages food. Has 4 protein sources (Chicken Meal, Pork Meal, Lamb Meal and Fish Meal) along with Liver. If I switch I will be getting a 40lb. bag for $14.00 less than what I currently pay for the 36lb. | This food is nothing like California Natural, and should not be compared to it. It also has way less meat and is much lower in calories. The reason most people feed CN is because it only has one meat source and rice...a very simple ingredient list. ANP has much more grain then meat...ingredients are measured by weight...so there is much more rice, liver, barley and beet pulp then there is of pork, lamb or fish. Is the meat used human grade? I would not feed it...you will have to feed way more, and the ingredients are good, but not great. ![]() Gina

| Re: American Natural Premium The belief underlying the food's manufacture appears to be that grains are good for dogs. Since dogs are carnivores and I feed my dogs a diet that reflects this, it doesn't matter to me how the grains used in it are raised and processed. There're too many grains in the food for me. |

| Re: American Natural Premium I think we're going to stick with Cal. Nat. Previous foods that we fed Brodie that had more grains in them gave him horrible gas, so even though saving $14 per bag would be nice, I value the air quality in my house a little more than that.LOL. Jaime
