| Introducing organ to Jett's diet As most of you know Jett is on the same diet that was given to my by her breeder. However, I would like to add an organ to her diet. How often and how much should I give her. Please keep in mind that this will be with her kibble (Eagle Pack Holistic) at night as a substitue to chicken/beef/lamb or kangaroo meat. Do I do it once a week/twice a week? Every other night she will have one of the meats above, I would just like for her to try something different. Last night I gave her the egg (shell and all) and she ate it all up!! I did crack the egg as she ate inside (was freezing outside). Will try the whole egg when the evening isn't so cold, was damp and foggy by 5pm! Thanks Trina

| Re: Introducing organ to Jett's diet I would suggest adding a glob of organ meat to the chicken/beef/lamb or kangaroo that she is already used to eating/digesting a couple times a week. Serving organ by itself can become explosive. If the stool gets a little loose back off the organ, if all goes well you could try backing off the meat and increasing the amount of organ until you are feeding an all organ meal once a week or so. What type of organ are you planning to feed? |

| Re: Introducing organ to Jett's diet Hi, Trina, I, like you have just started introducing organs to Lotties diet, I started with heart, which I lightly cooked and she loved it, she had chicken kidneys and a small amount of liver. poops were fine. Can you get tripe, as both my dogs love this as much as beef and they had this raw way before I started to introduce the raw diet. (I am still struggling with lottie and some raw although she has always loved tripe) Good luck Abbie |

Technically heart is an organ but it is considered muscle meat not organ meat when raw feeding. |

| Re: Introducing organ to Jett's diet Most pet stores sell unprocessed green tripe in frozen 1lb bags which is far better for dogs than the white tripe which has been "bleached" for human consumpion (although how anyone can eat it is beyond me) I can't get green tripe here so they have the white once a week. In the UK the green is easily available. Word of warning with green tripe, it stinks really bad once defrosted!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |
