2 or 3 feedings

Hi all I have a Rott and a Rott/Great Dane Mix. Just recently I swicthed from Iams to Eukanuba Sensitive Stomach. My Rott no longer could take the Iams after they reformulated it. Right now I feed 3 times a day. Once in the morning, in the afternoon and then in the evening. The first two feedings are a cup and a half and the last feeding is a cup. So that is 4 cups a day per dog. Should I cut out the afternoon feeding?

And I know that there are better foods out there, but my Rott's stomach is so sensitive and as soon as we started him on the Eukanuba he stopped throwing up everyday.(After the Iams reformulation). I really don't want to upset his stomach again with finding another food that he is not alleric to.

Thank you,

Dawn

Re: 2 or 3 feedings

There is definitely better foods out there. When you get the chance read through the food and nutrition threads and you will find a wealth of information

How old are your dogs? To answer your question, I believe most people feed 3 meals per day for young puppies and then switch to 2 meals per day once they hit about 6 months old? At least, that's how I do it

Re: 2 or 3 feedings

Puppies will tell you when they are ready to go on twice daily feedings. It's usually about 6 mos. of age. They'll just lose interest in it. I had my doubts with Max since he loves to eat, but sure enough, around 4 mos, he just didn't want to eat his noon meal.
