Are the fish oil tablets the same as the ones for people? And do you just break them open and mix the oil with the food? sorry if this is a stupid question.....

Yes...look for wild salmon oil capsules. You can buy them at any health food store...they are sold for humans. They are usually in 1,000 mgs capsules. I just bought some at Costco...good price...it's Alaskan Salmon oil and fish oil mixed.

I just throw the capsules right into the food...mine eat them...no squeezing or fussing.

Why do you think your dog needs fish oil? What food are you feeding? I give my older arthritic dog, fish oil capsules all year round (2,000 mgs per day) because it helps with inflammation. I give my younger guy fish oil caps, when the weather is cold and the furnace starts running in the late fall till early spring.

If your dog is eating a good diet, and does not need the fish oil as a supplement for a condition, it really should not need fish oil.

If you give fish oil you also must supplement with vitamin E (400 mg) three times per week.

Your puppy does not need fish oil. Orijen is very high in fat and you really don't have to supplement the diet.
From the other thread you started, your puppy has dandruff because you are over bathing it.
My dogs get 2 baths per year...they get brushed once a week. A puppy should not be bathed more then once every couple of months...because you are stripping all of the protective oils off of the skin.

Try brushing puppy once a week with a soft brush.

Re: fish oil for dandruff?

Is Cod Liver oil ok to give a puppy ? Not really using it as a supplement , using to add flavor/smell to the chicken .

You are feeding a raw diet? Then you have to figure out what you are feeding your puppy is balanced with enough minerals, vitamins, fats, proteins, etc.
If you are already feeding beef or chicken liver, then if you add cod liver oil...it may be just too much.

I would not give cod liver oil, unless it was needed in the diet.
