Food affecting moods/temperament/behaviour/energy level

This may be a weird question, but I was wondering if any of you think (or have heard) of food affecting moods/temperament/behaviour/energy level?

I am currently fostering a 15 month old playful, sometimes exuberent Rotti/Coonhound girl called Kisha. A couple of weeks ago, Kisha had an upset tummy, so I decided to home feed her the same as my pancreatic boy - oatmeal, pasta, vegetables, meat or fish and supplements - to see if I could settle her tummy down! She did very well on the food and was a little calmer and more easy going! She is a counter surfer extraordinaire, but she was less frantic on this combination of food and although she still showed an interest in food, she wasn't desperate about getting to the food. She was also quite a bit "calmer" and less exuberent.

About a week ago I put her back on the kibble and meat combination and she is "off the wall" for food! She will eat ANYTHING and EVERYTHING and will dig if she can smell just one piece of kibble. On top of that she is also a lot more "hyper" and "naughty" on the kibble than she was on the home cooking combination.

Any feedback/advice would be much appreciated.

Hi!

Prior to Kisha's upset tummy, I was feeding Canidae! I changed her food because she had such loose stools on the Canidae, so she is now on Natural Balance "Duck and Potatoe" formula. She gets feed 1.5 cups 3 times a day, plus .5 cups of cooked meat or fish.

Maybe she was calmer because she had an upset tummy?? Other than that, I'm not sure... Both my dogs act like they have never eaten at every meal and that is with any food I feed them... I'm curious to see if anyone else has had your experience... Hopefully you will get more replys!
