Nutro Natural Choice? Hi all, Im feeding my 9 week old male Nutro Natural Choice Large Breed Puppy. i fed Nutro to Baron and he lived to be 13. however, there seems to alot better brands available now. If i switch his food, i think i might have it narrowed down to either "Orijen" or "Candidae" thoughts, suggestions?

Re: Nutro Natural Choice? If you can find Solid Gold, it is a great food! I use the Barking at the Moon formula and my dog is doing awesome.

![]() I like Orijen, it's a grain free food and it's made in Canada with local ingredients. If cost is a big factor then Canidae would be a good choice too. I've fed both to my dogs and they have done well on these foods. Right now both of my dogs are on Orijen as well as raw. Gina

Re: Nutro Natural Choice? I highly recommend the Orijen. Yes, it is a bit pricey, but because it is grainless you don't have to feed your dog a whole lot of it to maintain a healthy weight. My dog only eats 1.5 cups each meal (so 3 cups a day) and he is at a perfect weight! Plus, grainless foods create smaller poops since their bodies absorb most of the food and produce less waste. I did start out on Canidae and I miss saving money on it, but my guy was too gassy and had soft poops on that food. If you try Canidae and your dog does well on it, might as well stay with it since it is cost effective. Otherwise definitely try the Orijen if you have the resources to continue feeding it to your pup !

Re: Nutro Natural Choice? thanks for the reply's. cost isn't that big of a deal, so if the Orijen is only a few bucks more i will switch him to that. seems to be the most popular among you guys sofar.

Re: Nutro Natural Choice? If you decide to go with Orijen I would suggest using the Large Breed Puppy Formula. It has the most appropriate calcium phosphorus ratio for your young pup. Good Luck.

Re: Nutro Natural Choice? If you plan to use Orijen I would keep him on the LBP formula until the majority of his growing is done.
