| I've been clipping my dogs' nails all these years without a whole lot of trouble. But I noticed that many people here dremel their dogs' nails. Since my Lady girl tore a nail recently, and then Sofie snagged one of her nails!!! I've been thinking more about grinding the nails vs. clipping. It seems so easy to cause bleeding with the clipping. Plus if the clippers are not really sharp I think they pinch as they clip. But there seem to be so many types of grinders out there. I'm hoping for advice on which one to get. What features do you like on yours, etc? How do I decide which one to get?

| Re: What to look for in nail grinders? I actually use both.....I clip my guys nails for just normal activities.....however I both clip & dremel for dog shows as it just gets them a bit shorter and helps present a better overall neat package at a dog show. I went into a hardware store.....purchased a Dremel~~its actually a brand name~~I bought the cordless / rechargeable kind....simply because my dogs don't overall appreciate nail trimming day and if I have to follow them out of range of a plug in....then I can!! Also another plus for me with a cordless was that occasionally you notice at a show that a nail appears slightly too long and w/o power how do you dremel it quickly then? So for me the cordless/rechargeable just made sense. I have seen some handlers that have the electric kind they seem to work just as well except they don't have to be cognizant of how long they run them and how much battery strength that they may have left. | Re: What to look for in nail grinders? I just starting using the Dremel brand too and I love it! Before I used the Oster product, but it wasn't durable. |

| Re: What to look for in nail grinders? Thanks! Another question about them....I've heard that you can get the nails shorter with the grinder, is that just because you do a little grinding more often? I still need to be careful & worry about hurting them, bleeding, right?
