Solid Gold BATM vs. Canidae ALS

Are local dog food store has just raised the price of the Solid Gold BATM from $40 to $58. We have been feeding this for quite a while and Winnie has done very well. However, they still have Canidae ALS for $34. What do you think? They seem pretty comparable other than the Solid Gold being grain free. The $24 is probably going to make up my mind for me.

Re: Solid Gold BATM vs. Canidae ALS

I feed my gang Canidae along with cooked and raw food now. (I've learned a lot more about feeding dogs here than I've learned in a lifetime of having dogs--Thank you RDN) I think that Canidae is an excellent food and the price is in my range too.

But I also mix in other kibble foods every couple months for variety with Canidae remaining the main kibble.

They get about 2/3 kibble, and 1/3 raw or cooked meat & bones as follows:

Right now I've got them on a bag of Wellness Core-low fat mixed with the Canidae. They get a raw meaty marrow beef bone a couple times a week. And they get "dog soup." Dog soup consists of meat that's on sale cooked in the crock pot with water, a pinch of salt, a little garlic, potatoes, various veggies I have on hand. Or they get a scoop of yogurt, cottage cheese, an egg, a Natures Variety Raw Rabbit patty etc....whatever's handy, low fat, meaty or protein-y left over that is ok for dogs to eat. I usually squirt some wild salmon oil on top once a day too.

I'd love to give the higher cost, higher quality grain free food, but it's hard to do with 3 of them. So I feel they are getting a good balance with my additions to the diet.
