| How much is Too much calcium? I know you can have too much calcium for a puppy and have to be careful...I just got finished reading the thread about adding cottage cheese to their kibble...I have changed over to feeding Taste of the Wild, it's the best premium kibble the feed store closest to my house has...Just for goodies, I always add something to their kibble. Most of the time it's some milk...sometimes cottage cheese, or an egg...With the food having a calcuim/phos ratio of 2.1/1.4 is that too much calcium for them? Jaycee is 15 months now and Dice is 5 or 6... |

| Re: How much is Too much calcium? Thanks HokiSteph...I read through most all of those threads, but most of them talk about actually giving a supplement, I'm just talking about them getting the extra calcium from milk or cottage cheese daily, does that throw it too much out of balance? |

| Your dogs are old enough that it's not going to make a difference...and what the body does not need it will get rid of.Their major growth is done. It's growing young pups that should not have too much calcium. Problems start because most foods (puppy foods even more) have more than enough calcium in them...and then when owner's start adding more things containing calcium....that it becomes unbalanced for a growing puppy. Adding a teaspoon of yogurt or cottage cheese is not going to make a difference....but adding a cup of extra yogurt or milk to an already calcium fortified diet for a young puppy...can do harm...over the long term. | Re: How much is Too much calcium? Thank you Gina's Mom...I thought mine were old enough they were ok, but I wanted to make sure...Adding milk to their kibble is something they love and very easy for me to do... |

| Re: How much is Too much calcium? Just a side note: If you notice loose stools you might suspect the milk. My dogs will get loose stools when given milk but have no problem with yogurt or cottage cheese. |
