| Dremel recommendation Our dremel has just died (again). Any recommendations on a brand for a new one? The last two were Oster Nail Grinders and neither lasted more than 7 months. Thanks in advance. |

| Re: Dremel recommendation We bought the actual Dremel brand kit. Hubby said I could only get one if he could use it for projects too! LOL Ours is the cordless 10.8V. It is handy enough for the dogs and anything else. We've had it about six months or so, with no problems. We got ours at Home Depot, but I'm sure you can find it anywhere Dremel brand is carried. The price wasn't bad, but that is considering the total number of things it's uselful for. Dawn |

| Re: Dremel recommendation I have a Dremel (the brand) electric with the flex attachment. I bought the electric one when the battery one just couldn't last through five dogs without charge. I use it on the dogs, and for other things around the house like removing the grout in the bathroom. The Dremel brand rocks! I also have an Oster nail grinder and I don't like it at all.

| Re: Dremel recommendation if you use the actual Dremel tool (it's a brand name - they're rotary tools if they're by anyone else) you should never experience a failure. mine has served as a drill, router, grinder, buffer and dog nail grinder - Ozzy's nails get done with a different bit, all the rest is for luthier work. only thing to watch is that a Dremel that's equipped with a wall plug is many orders of magnitude more powerful than the competitor's copies. (generally works that way - cheap copies are just that, cheap.) the more powerful, and far higher RPM can make for faster heat-up of dog nails. should be a slider for the RPM that the dremel works at - 2500 to 3000 rpm should be fine for dog nails, grinds them off without heating up too badly. best of luck, eh? stale |

| Re: Dremel recommendation I have the plug in Dremel, also. I run it at 3000rpm with a sanding drum to do Chili's nails. I've also used it for a bunch of other stuff, but nails are its most common use. I've had it for 7 years and not a problem to be seen yet. |

| Re: Dremel recommendation I am new to the site here, nice to see that we set no limitations on the discussions here! I seen Dremel in the post and thought it was a rare dog breed or something! |

| Re: Dremel recommendation I love you all! So we dug the Dremel (yes the Dremel brand) out of the garage, I did have to buy a different bit. Anyhow it is TONS quieter than the Oster, even on the highest setting. It doesn't get hot in my hands and the bit doesn't have the wobble that the Oster one had making me worry whether or not it would come flying off. Yup, so I'd recommend this to anyone! I hate throw away products and if I recall correctly the Dremel cost less than the nail grinder and it also has 51 different attachments! Quote:

| Re: Dremel recommendation We also use the dremel brand cordless. The has lasted for about 8 months and I still haven't charged it. Also, ours is the one with the variable speeds. It was hard to find and we had to buy it with an entire kit, but well worth it... we didn't want the one that only had "hi, med, low, off" speeds. We only use it for nails, so the rest of the kit has gone to waste, but well worth the investment :) |

| Re: Dremel recommendation I am aware of Dremel the tool (although never thought of it for nail care which seems like an awesome idea!)... I was just confused to see it being discussed here in these forums, but now I understand why and will maybe give this a shot! |
