I would like to know if feeding your dog from an elevated tray is bad or good. we have her water and food dishes in platform trays. she doesnt have to bend down to eat they are at her chest level. I havent had any digestion problems but was reading an article, it mentioned having dogs food on the floor, I had heard it was harder on them to feed on the floor. any one?

Re: Eating Good question, I heard it caused gas problems, or something to that effect, when they were fed on the floor. I would like to hear people's responses as well...

Re: Eating For Christmas my sister bought my dog an elevated food tray. I don't use it except to keep the water dish in it from being kicked over accidentally. My dog picks food out of her bowl, drops it on the floor and eats it when it's in the tray. When it's on the floor, she doesn't take kibble out of the bowl and drop it on the floor. I've heard from some that the elevated ones can contribute to bloat and some that it doesn't, not sure.

Re: Eating We used to fed our dobies on elevated trays as we were advised it helped with their digestion but when we tried it with lottie, the dish, food and water bowl ended up all over the floor. so we feed on the floor now although she is a nomadic eater and tends to carry it everywhere lol! abbie

| Re: Eating We feed and water Nisha out of bowls that are attached to her kennel (and elevated). I have never heard about it contributing to bloat ! I always thought it was better for their posture and digestion.

Re: Eating i was advised by a former rottie breeder to keep the food elevated. she mentioned something about it being a stress on their elbows or something to that nature when the bowls are on the ground.
